Guinea has further strengthened its control over the mining industry

Apr 01,2022

Recently, the Guinean government spokesman Ousmane gaoual Diallo said in an email statement that the world's largest exporter of bauxite has enacted a law authorizing the government to export half of the products of mining companies, but this law has not been implemented until now.

At present, the government will implement this measure directly or through an entity on behalf of the country. Diallo said that "this measure will be implemented in accordance with national best practices", but he did not specify the logistics method.

Since the military coup on September 5, 2021, the Guinean government has strengthened its control over the mining industry. Not long ago, mamadi doumbouya announced the suspension of the Simandou project, one of the world's largest undeveloped iron ores, in order to force mining companies to accept infrastructure financing schemes and clarify how the Guinean government can benefit from them.

Guinea and Australia are one of China's largest sources of bauxite imports. This red ore is an important raw material for the production of aluminum.
